Have you ever tried Kayaking?

Newton Beach, Porthcawl, originally uploaded by Tourism Bridgend.

A good place to learn kayaking is Newton Bay, Porthcawl. A sheltered bay, good sandy beach and you can hire kayaks at Ocean Quest on New Road. Also there is a great cafe at Blue Seas guest house and two pubs close by The Jolly Sailor and the Ancient Briton.

Ride on the beach.

Apparently there's only a few places in Wales where you can accompnay a trek and ride on the beach. Three Cliffs Bay is onme we know of and of course, in Ogmore by Sea, near Porthcawl. Both wonderful locations, especialy like the Ogmore ride along the estuary, through the dunes and onto Newton beach. Even takes in a castle too. Superb. Contact Ogmore Farm Riding Centre for details.

Paddle for your life!

Sounds a great event this, at Newton Beach, (that's the rural beach in Porthcawl near Bridgend, South Wales).  Quest Adventures are organising Paddle for Life, a charity event for Save the Children on Saturday 21st August 2010.  It's a family fun day consisting of Raft Building, kayaking, surfing, surf life saving and finishing with an awards ceremony in the evening at the High Tide Inn.  The ceremony for best dressed raft building team and all sorts of other whacky categories is part of the Blues Brothers Fancy Dress night where the Blues Brothers Band will be playing of course!
For tickets for this evening event please contact Ocean Quest.
