Porthcawl Beaches win Awards for Summer 2013!

Rest Bay, Porthcawl By Brent Davies

Rest Bay, Porthcawl By Brent Davies

As spring comes to an end, our lovely beaches are slowly beginning to look like holiday destinations again. The sand at Porthcawl is gleaming with the sunny weather we've been having, with Trecco Bay and Sker Beach offering ideal conditions for relaxation, while Coney Beach and Rest Bay are the best bet for full-on seaside entertainment.
This week both Rest and Trecco Bay won the Seaside Award for wonderfully clean and green seasides, plus we've also managed to keep our Blue Flag awards for both beaches, making it the 13th year in a row! We are so lucky to have these lovely beaches and every visitor, local or not, should take the opportunity to surf, swim or just relax here.
We're making an album of your best Bridgend County beach pictures and your favourite one will be posted on our header for the month of July. Send your photos to BridgendBites@gmail.com. We can't wait to see which ones you've been to!

Dune Trekking 4 kids this Summer!

Looking for something different for the children to do this summer, then this is it. Dune Trekking is a short summer holiday environmental play scheme in Kenfig National Nature Reserve for children between 8 and 12 years old. Over the four days they can expect to build a Survival Camp, do some Pond Dipping, Mini Beast Hunts, a Beach Treasure Hunt and of course, participate in our renown Eco-Olympics.
Children arrive at 10.30am and leave at 3.30pm, but as this is very popular you will need to book in advance (you can also book on one or more days if you want a real break!) Cost is £15 per child per day and please remember to bring a packed lunch and a drink or two! See you at the Dunes then.
