For the dad who loves... outdoor adventure
Fatbike over Europe's second highest sand dunes! Give your dad an adrenaline rush to remember and take him fatbiking over the second highest sand dunes in Europe. The Merthyr Mawr sand dunes are so impressive they even  featured in the Lawrence of Arabia film. Choose from one hour bike hire or a half day guided tour with Porthcawl Bike Hire to guarantee your dad feels like an action film hero this Father's Day. Fatbike hire from £10 per hour.

For the dad who loves… a spot of golf
Undoubtedly home to some of the best golfing in Britain, Bridgend has hosted the Senior Open on numerous occasions. He may not be able to compete with the professionals, but dad can still head down to the likes of Pyle & Kenfig and Royal Porthcawl to get a lesson from a couple of the resident pro's. At P&K, pro Dylan Williams will set up a programme just for dad, based specifically on his abilities and will look at how he can improve his game - he might even start winning at crazy golf!

For the dad who loves… hanging ten
Nothing says 'I love you, Dad' like riding the same wave together, and Bridgend offers up some of the very best surfing in the UK. Don't just take our word for it; some of the best surfers around carve waves off our beaches, including Porthcawl Surf School, which was named UK's Best Surf School' at the 2016 Surf Awards. Here he can take part in a beginner lesson on the sand before hitting the water - even if Dad is convinced he's a pro!

For the dad who loves… foraging
If your dad is the 'hunter gatherer' type then he's going to love the opportunity to go foraging with Wild Spirit Bushcraft. There's the opportunity to seek out coastal delicacies or a full 3-day 'The Bushman' course that teaches a wide range of fascinating skills and techniques including wild food foraging, campfire cooking, preparing mammals, hammock and tarp set up and wood carving. Costs £285 per person.

For the dad who loves… mountain biking
Give dad a break from the the MAMILs (middle-aged men in lycra) and give him something to really test him. The Darren Fawr trails set in the stunning Garw Valley offers the chance to combine the blue 'Glengarw' trail with the black 'Gellideg' trail for an exhilarating 6.2km run that offers a thrilling descent through the Welsh valleys. He'll enjoy it so much he'll want to ride it all again a second time - if his legs allow him!

For the dad who loves... walking
The programme for the Love2walk Festival has recently been unveiled and it is as varied as ever with walks for families and children, history buffs and nature lovers with a chance to try new experiences. A packed programme sees walks with our partners from Wartime Bridgend, Awen, Glamorgan Bird Club and Parklives. Walks will explore the forestry of the Garw Valley, a mysterious cave in the woods and this year will also see the return of Beginners Geocaching and a Wellness Walk with outdoor Tai Chi. Local experts and groups are involved with many of the walks so expect to learn more about the Borough and its nature and history. As in previous years all walks are free of charge although some require booking in advance as places are limited so, make sure you get your name down as they are sure to be popular. For further information and a programme of walks visit www.love2walk.co.uk, tel 01656 815217 or email love2walk@bridgend.gov.uk.
