During this annual festival, thousands of children and young people gather to celebrate Welsh language and culture through singing, dance, and performance competitions. While Urdd Eisteddfod's main events are held in Pencoed, there are also hundreds of stalls that offer a number of family-friendly activities and attractions, including biking, live performances, and a fun fair.

Urdd Eisteddfod will kick off with an Opening Concert on 28 May at The Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl. Sian Lloyd will introduce Sophie Evans, Only Boys Aloud, Dawnswyr Bro Taf, Steffan Rhys Hughes, Rhydian Jenkins, Côr Adran Bro Taf, and others. The cast of the Primary and Youth Shows will perform as well!

The Youth Show is another performance to keep an eye on. Taking place on 27 & 29 May in the Sony Theatre, the musical tells the story of forbidden love that inspired the famous folk song, 'Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn'.

Urdd Eisteddfod lasts for the entire week, making it the perfect excuse for a short holiday! Here are just a few suggestions…

- For a lovely country getaway -- Ballas Farm Country Guest House

- For a night in the wilderness -- Our Welsh Caravan & Camping

- For classic comfort -- Colman Manor

- For a luxurious stay -- Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel
