Help us celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Bridgend Market
Charter this Saturday, the 17th of September, by taking part in the
Bridgend 500 Tudor Fayre!
The event will commemorate the granting of the first market
charter by none other than King Henry VIII. Bridgend Townsfolk will
be given many opportunities to meet and greet King Henry on his
Royal Progress around Town.
The Town Centre will be transformed into a typical Tudor market of
the era with over 20 demonstrations of activities that were
commonplace in the 16th century.
Workshops will include Tudor Pottery, Cooking, Leather Purse
Making and Toy Making; together with Ink, Quill and Parchment
making, Tudor Soap and Candle Making, Spinning, Weaving, Arrow
Making and many more!
Tudor entertainment will take place throughout the day including
traditional Tudor musicians, storytelling, the Court Jester and
Falconry.
Visitors can also enjoy guided historical tours of Bridgend Town
by local historian John Dunkley-Williams. The meeting point is at
Carnegie House on Wyndham Street and tours start at 11am, 12:30pm,
1:30pm and 3pm.
This is guaranteed to be great fun for the entire family so don't
miss out!
