Christmas in Bridgend

THE countdown to Christmas will begin in earnest this weekend with festive activities scheduled across the borough. Thousands are expected to come out in Bridgend on Saturday 1st December  for the customary reindeer parade and Christmas lights switch-on.
The festivities will begin with the arrival of Santa Claus himself and his reindeer at 11.30am. Children will be able to see Santa between noon and 6pm. Entry to the grotto will cost £5 per child, with all proceeds going to Heronsbridge School.
Then at 4.30pm in Queen Street the Ogmore Vale Silver Band will lead carols and songs as the Christmas lights are switched on by ITV weather presenter Ruth Wignall. Santa's grotto will be open between 11am and 3.30pm on Sunday and on other weekend dates in December.
The Christmas Craft and Food Market will return to Bridgend town centre from Thursday, December 6 to Saturday, December 8.
